Singita reopens Singita Explore, an entirely private, immersive wilderness experience within the western reaches of the plains in Singita Grumeti Reserve in Tanzania, with a renewed focus on the principles that define the brand as a whole. Recently reimagined, Explore is the purest expression of Singita’s purpose to bring guests closer to nature. Lived in one group at a time, and surrounded only by open plains, herds of wildlife, and balanite and desert date trees, its remote location and exclusivity offers an extraordinary sense of privacy. 

With every element of the spaces intentionally pared back, guests are invited into an experience embodied by simplicity and connection. At the heart of camp, a central gathering space holds the finishing kitchen, waiter station, dining gazebo and fireplace, while the first tents on either side can be dedicated to children or transformed into a wellness treatment room or library. 

Canvas is the only thing separating guests from the wild just outside, and the use of natural materials throughout, warm earthy tones, and absence of synthetic sound and scent create a quiet and grounding atmosphere. Comfort is elemental, with temperatures naturally regulated through fire, fresh air, fans, cold showers, hot water bottles and layers of blankets. Fire is central to the rhythm of camp, and provides warmth, light, nourishment and a place to gather under the night sky. 

An Intuitive Experience

The guest experience more than ever focuses on the intangible; with every element designed with the goal of helping guests find clarity, connecting with themselves and one another, and discovering the restorative power of spending deep time in nature. Days are guided by intuition and the landscape itself, without the restriction of schedules, curiosity and wonder are encouraged through the freedom to roam, and restoration is ensured in the absence of noise and distraction. 

Guests are gently woken by a human voice at sunrise; the weather cues activities or rest; traditional local meals are prepared over open flames, and enjoyed fireside, and days end trading stories around embers under the stars. At Explore, life is simple and intuitive, and comfort is defined by care and excellence rather than excess and capturing the retaliation that sometimes, slowing down is the most productive.

Conservation in Action

The Explore experience also provides guests with meaningful ways to engage with and support conservation and community initiatives across the Serengeti, in partnership with the Grumeti Fund.

• Guests can visit the Grumeti Fund’s RISE Center, Environmental Education Center, and community projects such as GHOMACOS, an organic farming cooperative that supplies Singita’s kitchens and staff canteens, to learn more about the conservation work underway in the region. 

• For a closer look at conservation on the ground, guests can meet the Grumeti Fund’s Anti-Poaching Canine Unit, spending time with handlers and tracking dogs and watching a live demonstration. 

Another option is to hike to one of the Fund’s Anti-Poaching Observation Posts, where guests can learn about scout operations, enjoy a picnic and spectacular views of the Serengeti.

Through these experiences, Explore offers a window into the people, initiatives and partnerships working to protect the Serengeti for generations to come.
