Quasar Expeditions, leader in experiential and sustainable travel in South America, has announced their annual Darwin Family Cruise set to depart July 18 – 25 around the Galápagos Islands. Aboard the newly renovated Quasar Evolution, exclusive for 32 guests, travelers will cruise the archipelago in authentic safari-style with complete comfort and privacy alongside “Charles Darwin.”

Professor Kenneth Noll, a renowned microbiologist with over 40 years of experience, will once again join the unique family-friendly journey to retrace Darwin’s historic journey nearly 200 years later. Blending Darwin’s perspective with modern scientific insights, Noll will portray Charles Darwin to offer a captivating and educational exploration of the islands and its natural wonders.

When Darwin set sail in 1831, he was initially expected to spend two years on his journey, but extended it to five as he made extensive collections and observations that would later become essential in his theory of natural selection and evolution—his most notable stop was the Galápagos archipelago and its variations of wildlife among species on different islands. He claimed that “the [Galápagos] archipelago is a little world within itself.”

The 8-day cruise explores many islands, including San Cristobal, South Plazas, Santa Cruz, Mosquera, and even remote islands that are inaccessible to larger vessels like Genovesa and Santa Fe. While visiting some of the very landscapes that shaped Darwin’s discoveries, guests will have access to pristine hiking trails, secluded coves, and up-close wildlife encounters through snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and panga rides. Quasar’s smaller footprint allows for reduced environmental impact while navigating the delicate ecosystems of the Galápagos. As a family-owned company celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Quasar takes pride in its family-oriented naturalists on board, offering some of the most knowledgeable, watchful professionals in the area who ensure an unforgettable experience for curious travelers of all ages.
