Updated: Apr 27, 2021

In celebration of Mother’s Day approaching, we’re excited to share some of our favorite destinations for mothers that also make an excellent holiday for family travel.

Fregate Island

For a totally unique trip with the family, Fregate Island is a paradise that mom will swoon over. Accessible only via boat or helicopter, Fregate Island offers guests seclusion and plenty of adventure. Mom can enjoy participating in hands-on conservation work with the team, projects such as assisting in turtle hatchlings, cultivating sea coral and others. The island is home to seven beaches including the only privatizable beach in the Indian Ocean. The family can enjoy a variety of activities including hiking through the jungle, snorkeling in the sea and fishing, where chefs from the kitchen turn the catches into sushi-right on the boat. Dinning can also be arranged anywhere on the island. Additionally, mom can enjoy treatments at the Rock Spa, where products are made with the pickings from the island’s garden.

Hotel Eden Roc

Just a few miles from the Italian border on the Switzerland side of Lake Maggiore (a quieter alternative to Lake Como) sits Ascona, the perfect destination for an Italian-inspired Mother’s Day trip with colorful cafe-filled streets dotted with palm trees and the Alps towering in the background. Nestled on the shores of Ascona just a short walk from the main piazza is Hotel Eden Roc, boasting beautiful recently renovated lakeside suites, a 21,500 square foot Spa and Wellness Center, a private beach and yacht harbor, and four Mediterranean-style restaurants, including the Michelin-starred La Brezza. Guests can spend their days relaxing by the pool, indulging in a spa treatment and delectable meal, taking a boat out on the lake, and heading into town for sightseeing and shopping. Add on a visit to the Brissago Islands to see the botanical gardens, and the girls are sure to make this trip an annual tradition for years to come.
